Meet David and Yves, two new members in South Florida who completed the latest transaction on ToolzDo.
Yves is a local contractor and owns a lot of tools for his business which are not in use 100 percent of the time so he posted several of them for rent. David needed a miter saw for more precision cutting for a framing project he was determined to complete this weekend.
David discovered Yves’ miter saw for rent from a Google search which took him to the ToolzDo item detailed page. On ToolzDo, every item you post is Google indexed with friendly URLs to make it easy for your items to be found in searches outside of ToolzDo – like on Google, Yahoo, etc. David liked what he saw and the item was only about one mile away. Being new to ToolzDo, he registered in less than two minutes, with one click got the contact info for Yves, and painlessly reserved the saw.
David and Yves connected face-to-face for a friendly pickup and drop off and that they were. It turned out that David and Yves are both do-it-yourselfers. They shared how-to tips on some of the projects they are currently working on and talked of some other opportunities to connect in the future. A comprehensive rental agreement was used covering damage and loss procedures. Yves used the one from ToolzDo which already covers all the critical aspects of a rental transaction.
The rental transaction was a win for both David and Yves. A heavy duty miter saw like Yves’ goes for about $650 new and $275 used. Renting from the local hardware store, would have been about $47. David only paid for what he used by renting it from a member of his community for $25 – you do the math! Yves got to make some cash that otherwise would not have been made had the miter saw remained idled in his garage another weekend.
Best of all, David and Yves got to meet! This would not have happened if Yves did not post his miter saw! So owners of stuff (that’s all of us) go post your stuff for rent to earn, for swap to save or if just don’t want them around, give them away to de-clutter. The more items you post, the fatter your wallet gets with the cash you get to keep!
While listing sites only count the number of items listed or the total dollar value of the items, we will highlight the number of neighbor to neighbor connections facilitated with ToolzDo. ToolzDo is not about the stuff but about the people using the stuff and their potential for doing GOOD. So we will focus on what has the most value in the community – YOU and the lives that will be changed.
